Technical Account Manager
Location: Greater Toronto Area
Introduction
We are hiring a Technical Account Manager to drive sales growth for a leading ingredients and formulation company serving the beauty and healthcare industries. You will manage the Toronto and Western Canada regions by increasing sales to existing customers, prospecting new business, and building strong customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Achieve sales targets aligned with the company's fiscal budgets.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of our product portfolio, including scientific, marketing, and pricing information, as well as industry developments through publications, seminars, and interactions with industry sources.
- Build relationships with high-level influencers and decision-makers, serving as the main contact for assigned accounts.
- Manage and strengthen relationships between customers and internal teams.
- Proactively contact customers to sustain existing business and identify new opportunities.
- Understand customer needs within your territory to offer tailored solutions via presentations, demonstrations, and meetings.
- Analyze customer sales trends and project needs.
- Provide technical support and follow up on product use and application inquiries.
- Introduce new or updated company and Principal offers to customers.
- Follow up on leads from various sources to develop new business.
- Identify and pursue new customers and projects, ensuring proper follow-up and closing.
- Plan a monthly customer visit schedule to maximize face-to-face interactions with key stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of customer interactions and activities within CRM.
- Prepare and present activity reports for department meetings.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets for existing and new business.
- Maintain relationships with key personnel within our Principals’ organizations to support sales growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share technical, sales, and marketing information regularly.
- Represent the company at professional events, trade shows, and webinars.
- Manage expenses within budgeted limits.
- Complete assignments following management guidelines and requirements.
- Uphold the company's values, image, and culture both internally and externally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of B2B sales experience, preferably in the personal care, chemical, or ingredients industry.
- Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales targets and developing new business.
- Strong understanding of product formulation, technical sales, and customer solutions.
- Ability to build relationships with decision-makers and influencers.
- Experience with global principals or suppliers is an asset.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to travel within GTA and internationally twice a year for industry events.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and video conferencing tools.
