Job summary

Cornwallis Care Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior or Healthcare Assistant to lead the night team and deliver person-centred care. This fixed-term maternity cover role focuses on mentoring staff, coordinating care, and ensuring medication safety within a supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication, and a passion for elderly care, with relevant qualifications and DBS clearance.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or working towards).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the care sector.
• Experience administering medication.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and person-centred care.
• Eligible to work in the UK and able to provide documents for DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the care team during your shift.
• Administer and audit medication safely.
• Support care planning, reviews, and risk assessments.
• Monitor residents’ wellbeing and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Mentor and supervise team members.
• Help maintain high standards in line with CQC requirements.
• Take charge of the home in the absence of the Home Manager or Care Coordinator.

You will:

What We’re Looking For

• Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or working towards)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the care sector
• Experience administering medication

• Good understanding of safeguarding and person‑centred care
• Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues
• Eligible to work in the UK and able to provide original documents for a DBS check
• Experience with care audits and quality monitoring
• Knowledge of CQC standards and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
• Restore2, First Aid, and Fire Warden training

Pay Rates

• £14.44 per hour
