Job summary

Yellowknife Education District No. 1 invites applications for a part-time Responsive Inclusive Secondary Education Teacher at Ecole Sir John Franklin High School.

The position covers grades 9–12, about 75% FTE for the 2026/2027 school year, mainly teaching RISE with at least one humanities class. Candidates should hold a Bachelor of Education, a NWT Teacher Certification, and demonstrate inclusive practices, collaboration with staff, and the ability to tailor programs for diverse learners,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education degree required

• Experience using class profiles to inform practice
• Familiarity with RTI and universal design for learning
• Experience with students with complex needs
• Understanding of backwards design and triangulation of evidence of learning
• Experience in curriculum and cross-curricular planning and delivery
• Humanities teaching experience is an asset

Responsive Inclusive Secondary Education Teacher

Grade 9 to 12

Part Time (75% FTE)

2026/2027School Year

Though this position will mostly be teaching the RISE program, the assignment will also include at least one humanities class as well.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor of Education Degree, a NWT Teacher Certification and :

Understanding and ability to implement inclusive strategies, practices and interventions

Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers within the school

Knowledge of utilizing class profiles to inform practices

Understanding of the response to intervention model

Experience modifying and individualizing programming to meet student goals, strengths and needs

Understanding of universal design for learning and tiered support

Experience working with students with complex needs

Understanding of backwards design

Understanding of triangulation of evidence of learning

Knowledge and understanding of inquiry based learning

Experience in area of curriculumand cross curricular planning and delivery

Training in or experience teaching humanities would be considered an asset
