Job summary

City Of Edmonton seeks a skilled leader to oversee the Tax Exemptions team within the Assessment and Taxation branch. You will guide staff as they manage complex exemption programs and evolving legislation, while delivering exceptional customer service to a diverse set of community partners and government entities.

You will analyze policy, prepare council-facing reports, and ensure compliance with political sensitivities, leveraging CRM and Google applications to maintain confidential

Qualifications

• University degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Commerce or Arts with related major.
• A Master’s Degree is considered an asset.
• 4 years progressively responsible experience in a collaborative role with focus on assessment and taxation, etc.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with evolving legislation and regulations.
• Liaise with internal and external Community Partners including school boards, religious and charitable organizations, and government levels.
• Prepare and present complex information to Community Partners.
• Conduct surveys of other assessment and taxation jurisdictions to identify industry norms.
• Prepare reports for management and Council with research and recommendations.
• Review exemptions processes and update as needed.
• Supervise, coach, mentor, and train staff; delegate work and provide performance feedback.
• Coordinate and support Tribunal appearances.
