Job summary

The City of Edmonton seeks a Senior Intergovernmental Strategist to lead proactive advocacy and strategic government relations across federal, provincial, and regional levels. You will translate the City’s strategy into policy wins and manage high-level communications for Council and executives.

This role requires responsibility for cross-jurisdictional collaborations, research leadership, and navigating complex political landscapes within a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Completed University degree in Political Sciences, Economics, Sociology, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal, provincial or federal government.
• Certification in project management or related government-relations coursework is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead corporate-wide advocacy campaigns aligning objectives with ministerial structures.
• Prepare executive briefing packages, reports, and memos for senior leaders and City Council.
• Develop government-relations strategies and tactical plans for key initiatives.
• Monitor political, legislative and media landscapes to identify opportunities and risks.
• Represent the City at intergovernmental forums and manage external consultants.
