Position Title: Talent Acquisition Specialist
Salary range: $75,000-$87,000
Division: People and Culture
Reports To: Director, Talent Management
Location: Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (Hybrid Work: 3 days in office)

The Opportunity

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for the development and execution of best-in-class recruitment strategies that deliver high caliber talent to help TVO achieve strategic and operational objectives. As a talent acquisition specialist, this will manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing through to onboarding, for external and internal talent at all levels and job types. A member of the People & Culture team, this role may also contribute to various employer branding and employee engagement initiatives.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Independently manage the entire recruitment process, from initial request to onboarding, including but not limited to intake meeting, post role, source candidates, screen and short-list applicants, conduct phone screens, schedule and conduct interviews, coordinate assessments, reference check, offer letters and posting closing procedures.
- Actively source and build a pipeline of talented applicants for current and future organizational needs (eg: social platforms and professional networks)
- Partner with leaders to ensure appropriate recruitment and sourcing strategies are being implemented for an efficient and effective hiring process
- Inform talent decisions with strong knowledge of TVO’s vision, Strategic Directions and business objectives
- Coach, provide guidance and contribute to building manager capability in the recruitment and selection processes (eg: behavioural interviewing techniques and assessment tools, drafting job postings, identifying selection criteria, defining/designing interview questions that reflect position requirements, etc.
- Contribute to establishing and executing a social media communications strategy and organize and participate in employer branding initiatives (recruitment campaigns, recruitment events, job fairs) to generate interest in TVO as an employer
- Negotiate and prepare employment letters (including new hire offers, transfers, secondment agreements, etc.)
- In partnership with business leaders, forecast quarterly and annual hiring needs by division/team
- Conduct career interviews and discussions with internal candidates, where appropriate advise employees and leaders in the creation of individual development plans
- Administration of the Applicant Tracking system (UltiPro) and vendor management (including LinkedIn Recruiter)
- Track and analyze recruitment metrics and reports to improve hiring processes and candidate experience
- Ensure a positive internal and external applicant experience throughout the recruitment and onboarding process and foster long-term relationships with past and potential candidates
- Stay abreast of leading recruitment practices, legislative requirements and market trends
- Act as an ambassador for TVO
- Other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring To TVO
- A University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3 to 5 years full-cycle recruitment experience in a candidate and client-centric environment
- Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (knowledge of UKG UltiPro an asset)
- Demonstrated expertise in sourcing, recruiting and placement of talent (experience with IT and highly specialized media and education roles an asset)
- Proven experience evaluating applicants against the position requirements to ensure effective shortlisting of applicants
- Knowledge of talent acquisition metrics, reporting and tracking, with strong Excel skills
- Experience creating and reviewing, amplifying and promoting career opportunities using social platforms, job boards and leveraging networks and talent pools
- Strong relationship management, influencing, collaboration and partnership skills both internally and externally
- Self-directed and solution-oriented, taking the initiative to critically examine situations, highlight and mitigate risks, and provide recommendations
- Strong interpersonal communication skills verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and diplomacy
