Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Toronto, Canada is seeking a Project Manager to lead Transmission & Distribution projects, manage scope, schedule and budget, and nurture key client relationships.

You will oversee multi-discipline teams from concept to closeout, drive proposals, and ensure compliance with QA/QC standards while delivering value to clients and expanding service offerings. Travel to project sites is expected; strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum.
• Minimum of 7 years of related experience, including 3+ years managing engineering, procurement and construction projects in the Transmission & Distribution industry.
• Professional Engineering (PE) registration preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; apply diverse knowledge to broad assignments.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; able to present complex information at all levels.
• Experience with production of transmission design and construction documents.
• Knowledge of NESC code and related industry standards.
• Ability to travel and work with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion, including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout.
• Leverage existing client relationships and develop new ones to drive repeat business.
• Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control costs.
• Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.
• Own internal project financials, staffing, risk management, and change management.
• Serve as primary contact with client for coordination, strategy, budget, and schedule attainment.
• Manage all aspects of project communication.
• Develop and implement project policies, controls, and execution plans aligned with client processes.
• Work with project team to ensure deliverables meet client satisfaction and QA/QC guidelines.
• Report on progress, costs, schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns; travel to locations expected.
• Support building Transmission team through hiring, training, mentoring.
