Job description

Your Moneris Career – The Opportunity

Join the Platform Services and Systems Administration team as a hands‑on Infrastructure Engineer helping design, standardize, automate, and modernize core infrastructure platforms across a large‑scale hybrid enterprise environment.

This role sits at the center of Moneris’ on‑premises modernization effort — evolving legacy compute, storage, and virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV, Dell SAN/NAS/HCI) toward a standardized, automated, and secure operating model. You will build reusable automation in Red Hat Ansible, Terraform, Python, Bash, PowerShell, and GitHub, harden Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server images to Center for Internet Security (CIS), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) baselines, and act as a Level 3 subject matter expert (SME) across compute, storage, virtualization, and identity layers. Partnering with System Administrators, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Information Security, Cloud Operations, and Infrastructure Architecture, you will drive the shift from click‑ops to Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Additional conditions

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in‑office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager of Software Development.

Posting Type: New Position.

Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $142,000.

Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. Individual job offers are determined by various factors, including experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.

What You’ll Do
  • Establish and maintain infrastructure standards aligned to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), and Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks.
  • Build automation pipelines for hardened Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) images across Nutanix AHV, VMware ESXi, and Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to standardize provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management across siloed operational teams.
  • Act as Level 3 subject matter expert (SME) for root cause identification, triage, and corrective action across the infrastructure portfolio.
  • Participate in enterprise Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Evaluate and plan upgrades, migrations, and refreshes of core platforms; participate in infrastructure architecture design reviews.
  • Partner with Information Security to implement hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance controls across the estate.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, build standards, diagrams, automation playbooks, and knowledge base articles.
What You Bring
Required qualifications
  • 3–5 years in a similar role within a large, complex enterprise environment.
  • Proven track record acting as a change agent transitioning from legacy click‑ops to modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  • Significant experience designing and managing enterprise server estates (thousands of virtual machines, multi‑site active/active) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server, including Server Core, Active Directory, and Entra ID.
  • Hands‑on virtualization experience with VMware vSphere and Nutanix AHV; enterprise storage experience across SAN, NAS, and Hyper‑Converged Infrastructure (HCI).
  • Extensive automation experience with Red Hat Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Python, and GitHub to build reusable, standards‑based operations.
  • Experience with infrastructure management tooling: VMware Aria, Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Azure Arc, Red Hat Satellite, Active Directory Group Policy (GPO), and HashiCorp Terraform.
  • Solid grasp of IPv4 fundamentals and hybrid enterprise network design, including segmentation via Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) and Palo Alto Networks next‑generation firewalls.
  • Understanding of core identity security, access management, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) concepts.
Preferred qualifications
  • Exposure to Fibre Channel (FC) SAN and the Dell enterprise block and mid‑tier unified storage portfolio.
  • Experience with CyberArk Privileged Access Security (PAS/pCloud), CyberArk Conjur Secrets Management, and Venafi.
  • Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server AlwaysOn High Availability (HA) deployments and local/global availability network appliances.
  • Experience with container‑based infrastructure, DevOps pipelines, CheckMK infrastructure monitoring, and Dynatrace enterprise observability.
What You Get
  • Emphasis on Wellness – Meeting Free Fridays (MF2), company‑wide holiday closure, just to name a few.
  • RRSP matching & defined contribution pension plan.
  • Flexible benefits package starting from day 1.
  • Thrive in a Hybrid or Remote Model – including a tech peripheral rebate!
  • Extensive learning & development programs and resources – plus unlimited free access to LinkedIn Learning and Udemy courses!
  • EAP (Employee Assistance Program), Educational Assistance and Recognition Program.
  • Employee perk program with incredible discounts for over 2,400 vendors!
  • Get involved in one or many of our Moneris Committees and Employee Resource Groups – Inclusive Workplace Council (IWC), Black Employee Network, just to name a few.
