Job summary

Porter Airlines Inc. is seeking an Aviation Internal Auditor to support aviation safety by evaluating the effectiveness of safety-critical processes and adherence to regulatory requirements.

You will participate in audits, develop plans and reports, and collaborate with internal teams and alliance partners to maintain high safety standards across Porter operations. A minimum of five years in aviation internal auditing is required.

Qualifications

• Time management, written and verbal communication, and keen attention to detail are essential.
• Experience with Transport Canada quality assurance requirements and the IATA OSH audit program is required.
• IOSA certification experience with a commercial air operator is preferred.
• Familiarity with commercial flight operations is necessary.
• Minimum five years of experience as an aviation internal auditor is expected.
• Impartiality, integrity, tenacity, diplomacy and self-reliance are key attributes.
• Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Safety Risk Management (SRM) principles is required.
• Recent qualification as an Aviation Internal Auditor or acceptable combination of education and related work experience is required.
• Ability to secure and maintain restricted airport security clearance is required.
• Must hold a valid passport and be able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Participate in selecting audits based on corporate safety risk objectives.
• Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of safety-critical functions within Porter operations; prepare audit plans and checklists.
• Evaluate safety-critical processes of alliance partners relevant to Porter aircraft.
• Develop detailed, evidence-based audit reports.
• Ensure compliance with Transport Canada requirements and IATA safety standards for a commercial air operator.
• Maintain confidentiality of safety reporting systems and information.
• Serve as a Safety Ambassador and resource for all employees.
• Participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) activities, reporting hazards and incidents; promote the Company Safety Policy and Non-Punitive Reporting Policy.

Job description

Reporting to the Manager, System Quality Assurance, this position supports aviation safety at Porter Airlines through focus on the effectiveness of safety critical processes.

Duties & Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Participate in the selection of audit projects based on corporate safety risk management objectives
• Conduct audits to evaluate of the effectiveness of safety-critical functions within the operation;
• Participate in the evaluation of the safety critical processes of alliance partners that are relevant to Porter aircraft
• Preparation of audit plans, checklists, sampling plans and other audit documentation related to assigned audits
• Develop detailed and evidence-based reports on all assigned audits
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and IATA operational safety standards relevant to a commercial air operator
• Maintain the confidentiality of organizational safety reporting systems and information acquired in the course of audit duties
• Serve as a Safety Ambassador and resource for all employees
• Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understanding, complying with and promoting the Company Safety Policy and Non-Punitive Reporting Policy
• Any other duties as assigned
