Job summary

Porter Airlines Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Quality Assurance Auditor to plan and conduct internal and external audits across Porter’s MQAP, ensuring regulatory compliance and conformance with IOSA standards.

The role supports safety culture and requires engaging with multiple departments and contracted facilities worldwide. The candidate should have aviation QA experience, CARs knowledge, and IOSA/ISARPs familiarity, along with AMOS exposure.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of aviation and QA experience within AMO/AOC/MRO environment.
  • Post-secondary education in an aviation related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary airport security clearance.
  • Must maintain a valid passport and be able to travel worldwide when required.
  • Knowledge of CARs is required; knowledge of FARs is a key asset.
  • Knowledge/experience in IOSA auditing principles and ISARPs is a key asset.
  • Knowledge/experience in AMOS is a key asset.
  • Familiarity with AMM, AIPC, CMM, MTCM is a key asset.

Responsibilities

  • Internal Audit Planning: Plan and conduct internal audits across functions to verify regulatory compliance.
  • External Audit Planning: Plan and conduct audits of contracted organizations (maintenance, suppliers, overhaul facilities).
  • Design Audit Checklists: Create checklists aligned with CARs and Porter manuals, including external organizations.
  • Ensure IOSA conformance: Align checklists with IOSA standards and ISARPs.
  • Audit Follow-up/Closure: Review CAPs and ensure timely progress to closure.
  • Corporate Policy Compliance: Adhere to Porter Manuals (SMS, Audit Manual, etc.).
  • Inter-Departmental Teamwork: Attend MQAP workshops and cross-functional meetings.
  • SMS Investigations: Conduct root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • SMS General Participation: Report hazards/incidents and promote safety policy.
  • Other: Complete occasional tasks as assigned.

Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Quality Assurance, and supported by the Supervisor,Maintenance Quality Assurance; this position engages in the daily conduct and continuousimprovement of auditing activities within the Maintenance Quality Assurance Program (MQAP) established under Porter Airlines’ AMO / AOC / ATO certificates. This position also supports Porter Airlines’ safety culture by participating in core functions related to the internal Safety Management System (SMS).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Internal Audit Planning: Engage in the planning and conduct of internal audits encompassing all functions and elements necessary to confirm compliance with applicable regulations and approved manuals.
  • External Audit Planning: Engage in the planning and conduct of external audits of contracted organizations including but not limited to maintenance arrangements, manufacturers, suppliers, and overhaul/repair facilities, etc.
  • Design Audit Checklists: Design and develop detailed audit checklists encompassing all applicable functions and elements under Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Porter Airlines’ approved company manuals, including all functions related to contracted external organizations.
  • Ensure IOSA Conformance: Ensure checklists are in conformance with any applicable IOSA Standards and Recommended Practices (ISARPs).
  • Audit Follow-up / Closure: Review and/or recommend corrective action plans (CAPs), audit sample dispositions, and process improvements. Ensure audit progress is conducted in a timely fashion, including follow-ups for CAP effectiveness, and to final audit closure.
  • Corporate Policy Compliance: Adhere to all applicable processes and procedures specified in Porter’s Corporate Operations Manual, MPM, MCM, SMS Manual and Audit Manual.
  • Inter-Departmental Teamwork: Engage in MQA’s regular team meetings, MQAP Workshop meetings and Quarterly “All Teams” meetings. Engage in various inter-departmental team meetings as may be required.
  • SMS Investigations: Conduct SMS investigations including root cause analysis and the development of corrective action plans (after SMS Investigator training has been provided internally).
  • SMS General Participation: Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations and/or resulting from the MQAP; understand, comply with, and promote the Company Safety Policy.
  • Other: Occasional tasks assigned.

Qualifications
  • 1+ years of aviation and QA experience, with applicable training certification/s while working within an AMO or AOC or MRO environment.
  • Post-secondary education in an aviation related field, or equivalent education / experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary airport security clearance is required.
  • Must maintain a valid passport (plus any necessary long-term visa for USA) and be able to travel to various locations worldwide when required.
  • Knowledge of TCCA’s Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) is required.
  • Knowledge of FAA’s Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) is a key asset.
  • Knowledge/experience in IOSA auditing principles and ISARPs is a key asset.
  • Knowledge/experience in AMOS (maintenance management software) is a key asset.
  • Familiarity with various Technical Data sources (AMM, AIPC, CMM, MTCM) is a key asset.
  • Impartiality, integrity, tenacity, diplomacy and self-reliance are key attributes for this role.
  • Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detail.
