Callon Dietz Inc. is seeking a Survey Field Assistant to join our team in Carleton Place, Ontario. You will work alongside the Survey Party Chief in the field, travelling regularly across Ontario and supporting field operations on major infrastructure projects.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical aptitude, strong MS Office skills, and a valid driver's license. Post-secondary education in Geomatics or a related discipline is preferred, and prior experience with robotic total stations or GNSS is an

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new equipment.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Strong communicator in a high‑productivity team environment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel regularly across Ontario.
• Post‑secondary Geomatics or related discipline preferred.
• Experience with RT Stations, GNSS, laser scanners or digital levels is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Survey Party Chief in the field.
• Travel regularly across Ontario.
• Read and interpret survey site plans and maps.
• Work with Robotic Total Stations, GNSS, digital levels and laser scanners.
• Assist in preparing field notes and sketches.
• Provide technical support for internal and external clients.
• Coordinate with and support the drafting/mapping division.
• Maintain field equipment and vehicles.
• Complete field data downloads and uploads.
• Perform duties in compliance with OHSA and company health and safety and quality programs.

The Role

The responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

• Working together with the Survey Party Chief in the field
• Travelling regularly across Ontario
• Reading and interpreting survey site plans and maps
• Working with Robotic Total Stations, GNSS survey instruments, digital levels, and 3D laser scanners
• Assisting in the preparation of field notes and sketches
• Providing technical support for internal and external clients
• Coordinating with and providing support to our drafting/mapping division
• Maintaining field equipment and vehicles
• Completing field data downloads and uploads
• Performing all duties in compliance with the OHSA and Callon Dietz’s Health and Safety and Quality Control programs

This position is an existing vacancy with a pay range between $22.00/hr. - $27.00/hr.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has a mechanical aptitude and is comfortable learning how to use new equipment
• Is highly proficient in the Microsoft Suite of programs
• Is a strong communicator who can embrace our high productivity work environment by positively contributing to the team effort
• Understands the importance of our high degree of quality and compliance to health and safety standards
• Holds a valid driver’s license
• Is eager to travel as a part of their day-to-day routine
• Completion of post-secondary education in Geomatics, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline is preferred but not required
• Previous experience working with Robotic Total Stations, GNSS survey equipment, laser scanners, and digital levels is considered an asset
