Under the supervision of a licensed perioperative team member, provides patient care in the operative setting. Provides technical services and support for patients undergoing surgical procedures including scrubbing and circulating roles. Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, improved patient care, and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or eligibility to take the CST exam.
The newly graduated Surgical Technologist must obtain certification within 12 months of hire to maintain employment unless an extension has been granted by the OR Manager. All grandfathered CSTs must maintain CEUs as defined by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (60 CEUs every 4 years). The CST must maintain an active certification throughout employment.
