Overview

UnityPoint Health offers a sign-on bonus of $7,500 for Surgical Tech positions and $5,000 for LPN roles for qualified full-time candidates.

This role involves assisting with patient care activities and performing selected perioperative technical procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Surgical Tech collaborates with the healthcare team to facilitate patient care, maintains standards for perioperative nursing practice, and ensures a high level of patient and team satisfaction. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, assisting with patient activities such as transport, positioning, and procedures like urinary catheterizations, and maintaining sterile fields and aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

The role requires critical thinking, coordination with team members, preparation of the operating room, assisting with patient care activities, maintaining sterile techniques, and ensuring quality and safety standards. The Surgical Tech demonstrates initiative to improve service quality, maintains a clean environment, and provides holistic patient care considering the physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, and safety needs of patients. Additional duties include monitoring vital signs, transporting patients and specimens, obtaining blood samples, and adhering to department schedules and standards.


Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an approved surgical technology or LPN program. Must be proficient in English and possess basic computer skills. Experience: Preferably with hospital or surgical environment background. Licenses/Certifications: Certification by the NBSTSA or an active LPN license. Must obtain NBSTSA certification within one year of employment.
