Job summary

Canadian Natural seeks a Surface Land Administration Student to join our Calgary head office for an 8- or 12-month term starting May 2027. This role offers hands-on exposure to surface land processes, data maintenance, and collaboration with experienced professionals in a supportive environment.

You will contribute to abandonment and reclamation projects, gain knowledge of provincial databases and the Acts and Directives, and participate in a range of ad-hoc projects while building skills for a

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Energy Asset Management Program or related post-secondary program.
  • Experience with Accumap, Abadata, and provincial databases.
  • General knowledge of the surface lifecycle.
  • General knowledge of the Acts and Directives.

Responsibilities

  • Help facilitate abandonment and reclamation projects and understand activities related to the program
  • Ensure data integrity/maintenance of surface files
  • Assist with capital projects and understand the role of surface land in acquiring wells and facilities
  • Assist with procedure review and updating
  • Support the third-party process and understand liability and regulations associated to granting consent
  • Ad-hoc projects as required

  • Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
  • Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours/day (Monday – Friday)
  • Term lengths: 8 months or 12 months
  • Term start: May 2027
  • Safety sensitive position: No
