Job summary

Canadian Natural invites geology students to join the Abandonment team in Calgary for an 8-month term starting January 2027. You’ll work on planning, execution, and optimization of well abandonment activities alongside industry-leading professionals.

You will gain hands-on experience with geological data analysis, WellView, Accumap, and Tableau while supporting operations across drilling, completions, servicing, and abandonment.

We are looking for a motivated Geology Student to join our fast-paced Abandonment team! You will have the exciting opportunity to be part of an active engineering and geology team responsible for the planning, execution and optimization of operations related to well abandonment activities.   • Job location: Calgary, AB – Head Office
  • Work schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, 8 hours per day (Monday – Friday)
  • Term length: 8 months
  • Term starts: January 2027
  • Safety sensitive position:Yes

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support an operational team through geological log and data analysis, geological interpretation, and well data analysis for optimization of projects, well records reviews, lookback reviews and ongoing operations and engineering support
  • Acquire hands-on experience with several widely used industry software programs including WellView, Accumap and Tableau
  • Gain exposure to all aspects of well operations including drilling, completions, well servicing and well abandonment

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Currently enrolled in your 2nd, 3rd, or 4thyear of a geological degree program.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license
  • Motivated, collaborative, organized, and able to manage competing priorities
