Job summary

Umbrella Family in Hamilton is hiring a part-time, casual Supply Educator to join our caring team at Templemead Centre. Shifts are Monday to Friday, 7:00am–6:00pm, with on-call flexibility and multiple locations across the Hamilton area.

Earn $27.36 with RECE duties or $22.70 for non-RECE, with a supportive environment that fosters growth and collaboration among staff and teachers who guide children’s learning.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of direct experience with children.
• Diploma in a related childcare field is advantageous.
• First Aid with CPR Level C is preferred or required.
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and immunizations.

Responsibilities

• Report to assigned childcare centres to support full- and part-time staff.
• Plan, implement and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintain a safe, nurturing environment and collaborate with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.

Location: Templemead Centre

Schedule: Monday to Friday between 7:00am to 6:00pm shifts

• RECE: $27.36per hour


• Non-RECE: $22.70per hour

Who We’re Looking For

Experience:

• Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children, OR related experience in a childcare setting, working with school-age children is preferred but not required

Education:

• Diploma in a field related to childcare such as Early Childhood Education is an advantage


• A Diploma in Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Education Assistant, Social Worker, or Recreation & Leisure may also be considered.

Certifications:

• Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) is preferred but not required


• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C


• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check


• Up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus, and MMR

Skills:

• Knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen framework is an asset.

Characteristics:

• Willingness to work in an on-call capacity with flexible scheduling


• Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday to Friday, within the 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM time frame.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, flexible environment with minimal supervision


• Flexibility and adaptability to be assigned in multiple locations, with minimal supervision.

• Reporting to assigned childcare centres to support full- and part-time staff


• Establishing goals, planning, implementing, and evaluating developmentally appropriate activities to support children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth in line with the How Does Learning Happen framework


• Maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while fostering professional relationships with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty
