Job summary

Umbrella Family is seeking a Casual, Part-time Childcare Centre Supply Educator in Ancaster, Ontario. You will support staff at assigned centres, plan developmentally appropriate activities, and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for children in alignment with program guidelines.

This on-call role offers flexible scheduling (minimum 3 days per week) with shifts 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and locations across the Hamilton area.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education is an advantage
• Diploma in Child & Youth Worker or related fields may be considered
• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C preferred
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check preferred
• Up-to-date immunizations (TB, Tetanus, MMR) preferred

Location:Ancaster Meadow; 93 Kitty Murray Lane,Ancaster, ONL9K 1S3
Schedule: Monday to Friday between 7:00am to 6:00pm shifts
Pay Rate (includes wage grants):

• RECE: $27.36per hour
• Non-RECE: $22.70per hour

Who We’re Looking For

Experience:

• Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children, OR related experience in a childcare setting, working with school-age children is preferred but not required

Education:

• Diploma in a field related to childcare such as Early Childhood Education is an advantage
• A Diploma in Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Education Assistant, Social Worker, or Recreation & Leisure may also be considered.

Certifications:

• Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) is preferred but not required
• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
• Up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus, and MMR

Skills:

• Knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen framework is an asset.

Characteristics:

• Willingness to work in an on-call capacity with flexible scheduling
• Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday to Friday, within the 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM time frame.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, flexible environment with minimal supervision
• Flexibility and adaptability to be assigned in multiple locations, with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Reporting to assigned childcare centres to support full- and part-time staff
• Establishing goals, planning, implementing, and evaluating developmentally appropriate activities to support children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth in line with the How Does Learning Happen framework
• Maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while fostering professional relationships with Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty
