Supply Chain Specialist
Summary :
Under the guidance of the Strategic Supply Chain Manager and the Strategic Supply Chain Specialist, the Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment used by Med-Eng. The role includes assisting with general service functions and performing related duties as required.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision, exercising discretion and independent judgment within established guidelines.
- Review purchase requisitions for completeness, appropriate authorizations, and available funds. Evaluate procurement methods, determine specifications, and select vendors.
- Secure and compare information on supply sources, prices, quality, availability, terms, and conditions using appropriate research sources.
- Minimize GWTs between plants by ensuring materials arrive at the correct plant as per MRP requirements.
- Issue purchase orders for designated commodities and equipment, and revise orders as necessary when requirements or costs change.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting (AX) for internal visibility of material status and purchasing timelines.
- Monitor contracts and orders, expedite deliveries, and reconcile invoices with purchase orders, resolving discrepancies.
- Escalate disputes, delivery issues, material shortages, and other concerns to the Strategic Supply Specialist.
- Explain procurement policies and procedures to staff; ensure compliance with company policies; identify and control risks related to services and supplies, including obtaining MSDS, insurance, manuals, and compliance certificates.
- Travel may be required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Degree or diploma in business administration, commerce, materials management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Certification such as Certified Purchasing Professional or Certified in Production and Inventory Management is desirable.
- At least five (5) years of experience as a buyer.
- Knowledge of purchasing principles, practices, and methods in the private sector; familiarity with ITAR and relevant laws.
- Experience procuring electronics and soft-goods manufacturing supplies; understanding of supply sources, marketing, pricing, financial record keeping, contract management, and inventory control.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Ability to purchase appropriate quantities of quality items at the right time and price; evaluate bids; reconcile discrepancies; expedite transactions; and follow up on procurement matters.
- Accurate mathematical skills; effective time management; ability to work independently and react with urgency to solve purchasing issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; ability to maintain detailed records and establish effective working relationships with tact and diplomacy.
