A prominent educational institution in Barrie, Ontario is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with Special Needs, including those with physical and intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will have relevant training and experience, showcasing exceptional interpersonal skills and a dedication to fostering student independence. This role offers a pay rate of $29.51 per hour plus vacation pay, with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion within the school environment.
Rate of Pay: $29.51 + 4% vacation pay.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working with students with Special Needs (specifically physical and intellectual disabilities and behavioural or other learning difficulties). The Educational Assistant, as a professional and integral member of the school team, is responsible for the provision of academic, physical and emotional support to students with exceptional needs within the school in order to encourage student independence and the development of unique talents of individual students.
As a temporary measure to facilitate post‑pandemic recruitment, the SMCDSB will accept applications from candidates with any two (2) year diploma from ministry‑accredited college and any three (3) year degree from a ministry‑accredited university, or a combination of education and experience.
