Job summary

AMA Alberta is seeking a Lead Claims Supervisor to lead and support a team of Property Adjusters, guiding day-to-day activity and ensuring high-quality outcomes.

You will assign and monitor claims, handle escalations, and ensure practices meet regulatory and financial requirements while preparing AMA’s catastrophe response plan.

This role requires strong leadership, coaching skills, and the ability to collaborate with management, vendors, and internal partners to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressive claims handling, including at least 2 years in Property Claims
  • Post-secondary education completed
  • Insurance designation CIP, FCIP, and CRM preferred or in progress
  • Strong knowledge of property policy wordings and building construction
  • Experience with estimating tools such as Xactimate
  • Proficiency with MS Office and insurance operating systems
  • Proven leadership in high-pressure environments
  • Ability to coach and develop a diverse team
  • Excellent judgment on escalations and sensitive files

Job description

  • Handle escalations and sensitive files with professionalism and sound judgment
  • Ensure claims practices meet legislative, regulatory, and financial requirements
  • Approve reserves, settlements, denials, and use of experts where appropriate
  • Prepare, execute, and continuously improve AMA’s annual catastrophe response plan
  • Collaborate closely with Claims Management, fellow supervisors, vendors, and internal partners
  • Monitor performance metrics and vendor effectiveness, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive claims handling experience, including at least 2 years in Property Claims
