Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive claims handling experience, including at least 2 years in Property Claims.
  • Post-secondary education with an insurance designation completed or in progress (CIP, FCIP, CRM preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of property policy wordings, building construction, and claims legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Property Adjusters, setting clear expectations and providing day-to-day guidance.
  • Assign and oversee claims to ensure timely, fair, and high-quality outcomes for members.
  • Mentor adjusters through coaching, audits, and one-on-one development conversations.
  • Handle escalations and sensitive files with professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Ensure claims practices meet legislative, regulatory, and financial requirements.
  • Approve reserves, settlements, denials, and use of experts where appropriate.
  • Prepare, execute, and continuously improve AMA’s annual catastrophe response plan.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive claims handling experience, including at least 2 years in Property Claims
  • Post‑secondary education, with an insurance designation completed or in progress (CIP, FCIP, CRM preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of property policy wordings, building construction, and claims legislation
  • Experience with estimating tools such as Xactimate (preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance operating systems
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide teams through busy, high‑pressure situations
