Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) invites applications for a Supervising Shift Engineer on the Power Plant team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. The role focuses on operating, monitoring and maintaining Steam Plant equipment and building mechanical and electrical systems, while supervising designated Power Engineers and staff.

The position supports patient care through reliable plant operations and collaborates with facilities leadership to meet safety, reliability, and regulatory

Qualifications

  • Certificate of competency as a 3rd Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
  • Four years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Ability to supervise and communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor Steam Plant equipment and related building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Maintain Steam Plant operations and oversee associated safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise designated Power Engineers and staff within the Power Plant team.

Job description

Come work as a Supervising Shift Engineer with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Power Plant team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC.

Within the context of a client centred model of care, operates, monitors and performs maintenance on all Steam Plant equipment in the steam plant, and various building mechanical and electrical systems. Supervises designated Power Engineers and staff.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
