Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a Shift/Maintenance Power Engineer to oversee predictive, preventive, and repair maintenance for mechanical equipment in the hospital. Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Under the direction of the Manager, is responsible for all types of predictive, preventive and repair maintenance to mechanical equipment, systems and controls throughout the hospital; and for the safe operation and maintenance of hospital boilers, machinery, refrigeration and heating systems in the steam plant.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience

Certificate of competency as a 3rd Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of B.C. Four years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
