Job summary

Chandos is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to orchestrate all field and site‑specific construction activities with precision, accountability, and leadership. You will ensure projects are safe, clean, organized, and delivered with high morale and strong engagement in safety management.

You will oversee design, budgets, schedules, subtrades, and profitability, mentor fellow superintendents, plan work, manage risks, and drive lean construction principles to deliver projects on time and within

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of demonstrable experience as a construction Superintendent for a large general contractor on commercial ICI projects.
  • 5+ years as head/lead/senior Superintendent on the project.
  • Experience leading renovation or ground-up construction of a recreation centre from start to finish.
  • Experience overseeing other Superintendents.
  • Journeyman trade certification or equivalent field experience.
  • Majority of projects in the $30-100M range.
  • Proven ability to create/manage schedules and complex logistics for full project duration.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as owner interface champion, maintaining client relationships.
  • Identify training needs, support apprenticeship programs, and build teams.
  • Uphold organization, work methods, scheduling discipline, cost control, lean construction.

Job Description

As aSuperintendent, you are the nucleus of project success -responsible for orchestrating all field and site‑specific construction activities with precision, accountability, and leadership. You ensure projects are safe, clean, organized, and delivered with high morale and strong engagement in safety management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Steward safety and the well‑being of all personnel, conduct inspections, and immediately address risks.
  • Lead and manage all site activities, including the Chandos' Production System, project design, budget, schedule, performance, subtrades, and profitability.
  • Provide direction, mentorship, and oversight to other Superintendents and field staff, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Plan and schedule work, hold milestones, and allocate manpower and materials to meet project goals.
  • Remove roadblocks, manage risk, and oversee project setup, execution, and close‑out.
  • Ensure conformity with drawings, specifications, and quality standards, while driving workmanship excellence.
  • Monitor project budgets and forecasts at the phase‑code and cost‑type level to identify gains and mitigate losses.
  • Oversee third‑party monitoring/testing in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Act as the owner interface champion, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring clear communication with project managers and stakeholders.
  • Identify training needs, support apprenticeship programs, and build healthy, high‑performing teams.
  • Uphold organization, work methods, scheduling discipline, cost control, and lean construction principles.

You operate like a conductor - ensuring every team member plays their part at the right time. You hold people accountable, drive results, and embed safety into every aspect of site operations. You make sure everyone understands the plan and their commitment to achieving it. With grit, collaboration, and a deep understanding of lean principles, you set the tone for excellence and deliver projects that meet or exceed expectations.

You bring grit, accountability, and an entrepreneurial mindset to every project. You thrive in a hands‑on environment, solving problems on the fly and building trust through clear, respectful communication - even when the pressure’s on.

These are the MINIMUM requirements:

  • 8+ years of demonstrable experience as a construction Superintendent for a large general contractor on commercial ICI projects
  • 5+ years of your experience must be as the head/lead/senior Superintendent on the project.
  • Must have previous experience as a Superintendent leading the renovation or ground‑up construction of a recreation centre from project start through completion.
  • Must have experience overseeing other Superintendents
  • Journeyman trade certification or equivalent field experience
  • Majority of your projects have been in the $30-100Mrange
  • Have been responsible for creating/managing schedules, operating all scheduling system & planning and managing complex logistics for the full duration of projects
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
