Chandos Construction in Kamloops, Canada seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead mid-to-large commercial and institutional projects from concept through close-out. You will drive pre-construction under CM, supervise design-to-tender workflows, and execute fixed-sum contracts with accountability and collaboration.

You will mentor project managers and coordinators, foster strong client/subcontractor partnerships, and advance safety, quality and efficiency across projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience at a general contractor
• 3+ years in a direct Project Manager role on mid-to-large commercial projects
• Proven track record managing projects from design through completion
• Technical diploma in construction-related field (CET) or equivalent
• Demonstrated CM conversion experience (CCDC 5A/5B to CCDC 2)
• Strong understanding of Construction Management processes and delivery models
• Strong budgeting skills and tendering process knowledge
• Experience with risk management and opportunity identification
• Proficient with MS Project and scheduling
• Strong forecasting and financial reporting abilities
• Valid driver’s license and ability to balance office and site work

Responsibilities

• Adopt and integrate Chandos project management systems
• Prepare detailed construction schedules and track weekly, utilizing Chandos Production System on-site
• Complete accurate monthly forecasts for all assigned projects
• Train and mentor project coordinators to develop future leaders
• Foster client, consultant and subcontractor relationships for repeat business
• Embed continuous improvement in safety, quality and efficiency

Job Description

Step into a pivotal leadership role where you’ll guide mid-to-large commercial projects from initial concept and proposal development right through to final close-out. You’ll lead pre-construction under CM, drive design-to-tender workflows, convert to a stipulated-sum model, and execute construction with precision, accountability and collaboration.

As a mentor and coach, you’ll empower project managers and coordinators to raise their game, foster strong partnerships with clients and subcontractors, and drive continuous improvements in safety, quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Own full-lifecycle delivery of mid-to-large commercial and institutionalprojects
• Participate in cradle-to-grave project delivery, including: Design review and constructability input, contract administration, Construction sequencing, site logistics, and methodology development, Close-out, hand-off, and client transition
• Manage, open CM (CCDC 5A/5B), converted CM (CCDC 2), and traditional LS (CCDC 2) delivery models: Shift projects from open to fixed-sum contracts through risk identification and tender recap, Mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities throughout construction
• Lead the subtrade buy-out process, with input from the estimating team, and in accordance with the PM manual.
• Adopt and integrate all Chandos project management systems: Chandos Production System, Project Execution Plan, Quality Management system, Health and Safety Program and Project Management Manual.
• Prepare detailed construction schedules, track on a weekly basis, and report results. Utilize Chandos Production System on-site to its full capacity, and meet or beat the project milestones and schedule.
• Complete accurate monthly forecasts for all assigned projects.
• Conduct Project End Book analysis in order to identify areas for improvement; make recommendations based on findings.
• Train and mentor project coordinators—develop tomorrow’s leaders today
• Foster client, consultant and subcontractor relationships that drive repeat business and strong referrals
• Embed continuous improvement: streamline processes, reinforce safety best practices, capture lessons learned

These are the MINIMUM requirements:

• 5+ years of experience working at a general contract (not developer)
• 3+ years in a direct Project Manager role working onon mid-to-large commercial projects
• Proven track record managing projects from design through completion
• At minimum, a technical diploma in an appropriate construction‑related field (CET), or equivalent construction experience
• Demonstrated CM conversion experience (CCDC 5A/5B to CCDC 2)
• Strong understanding of Construction Management processes and delivery models
• Strong budgeting skills (Class D, B, Tender levels) and tendering process knowledge
• Skilled in risk management, opportunity identification, and tender recap preparation
• Proficient with MS Project (scheduling), site logistics planning, and methodology development
• Strong forecasting and financial reporting abilities
• Valid driver’s license and ability to balance office and site work
