Job summary

MNP is seeking a Summer Co-op Accountant for our Assurance & Accounting team in Canada. You will gain hands-on experience with compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax work.

As an intern you’ll develop knowledge in IFRS, GAAP and ASPE, set up client files, assist with financial statements, and collaborate with engagement teams while maintaining flexibility to travel. On-site placement with a focus on learning and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a commerce or business degree with accounting/finance focus.
• Working toward CPA PEP prerequisites.
• Previous accounting office experience is a plus.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
• Experience with accounting or tax software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files.
• Perform AR, AP, capital asset transactions and payroll walkthroughs.
• Summarize financial status with balance sheets and P&L reports.
• Assess evidence for expenses, revenues and assets.
• Review discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Prepare entries and charts of accounts for posting.
• Prepare client summaries and presentations of findings.
• Collaborate with engagement teams and client contacts.
• Suggest process improvements and utilize internal programs.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as needed.
