Job summary

MNP is hiring an Accountant in Canada to join its Assurance & Accounting team. You will develop technical skills across compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax while applying IFRS/GAAP/ASPE knowledge to client files.

Responsibilities include setting up new client files, managing multiple engagements, preparing financial statements, and collaborating with client teams. Travel flexibility may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• CPA Professional Education Program prerequisites upon employment.
• Previous accounting office experience is an asset.
• Customer service experience is an asset.
• Experience with accounting and tax software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE as appropriate.
• Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files while counting inventory.
• Perform AR, AP, asset acquisitions/disposals and payroll walkthroughs with clients.
• Prepare balance sheets, income statements and other reports.
• Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues and assets.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and posting entries.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, client summaries and presentations.
• Collaborate with engagement team and client contacts.
• Contribute to process improvements using internal systems.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as required.
