Job summary

MNP is a proudly Canadian firm seeking a Co-op Accountant to join the Assurance & Accounting team in Canada. This 4- or 8-month term role begins January or May 2027 and offers exposure to compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax while developing IFRS/GAAP/ASPE knowledge.

Salary ranges from CAD 45,000 to 65,000, with MyRewards@MNP benefits and opportunities to work with diverse clients and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of, or working towards, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred)
• Completion of, or working towards, prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employment
• Previous accounting related office experience is considered an asset
• Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in areas such as: compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax
• Develop and apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and/or ASPE
• Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and disposition and payroll walk-through with clients
• Summarize current financial status by preparing balance sheets, income statements and other reports
• Assess the appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets and liabilities
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial entries and reports
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare postings to accounts
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports and client summaries
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build client relationships
• Contribute to process improvements and effectively use internal programs
• Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary
