Job summary

Foothills School Division seeks a temporary MHCB - Success/Wellness Coach to support school programming for the 2026/27 year. The role provides Tier 1 universal programming in schools and communities, with on-site duties and possible after-hours work.

A related diploma is preferred, plus two years in addiction or mental health, and a valid Health Professions Act permit. Evening/weekend attendance may be required; Brain Story training is expected within six months.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma in social sciences are preferred, or relevant courses plus two years of experience in addiction/mental health or health/human services.
• Must be in good standing and hold a valid practice permit under the Health Professions Act.
• Criminal record/vulnerable-sector check required prior to hire; Brain Story certification required within six months (on own time).

Responsibilities

• Provide addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth, and families through Tier 1 universal programming.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming in schools and community settings to build knowledge and skills for better mental health.
• Work as part of a team to support continuity of programming and on-site operations at Foothills School Division locations.

Job description

At the Foothills School Division (FSD) we are seeking a temporaryMHCB - Success/Wellness Coachto join our team. Thisschool-facilitation position will support the team by providing relief coverage to ensure the continuity of programming for our schools for the 2026/27 school year.

We anticipate being able to provide full-time hours (35 hours per week) for at least the month of October. This isprimarily an on-site role which will requirein-person attendance at our school locations.Evening and weekend work may be required.

Our Division & Communities

Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.

The Role

The Coach provides addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth, and families through Tier 1 universal programming. Working as part of a team, this position develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that meets the objectives of the MHCB initiative. Delivery of programming involves large and small group work in schools and community settings, and focuses on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable others to better their own mental health and wellness.

Qualifications & Work Experience

To prepare for this role, a related post-secondary diploma in social sciences is preferred, or relevant courses and experience with a minimum of two years working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student will be considered). You must be in good standing and have a valid practice permit with the Health Professions Act. In addition, a satisfactory criminal record/vulnerablesector check must be provided prior to hire.

A certification in Brain Story will be required either prior to hire or within in the first 6 months of employment; there is no fee however, it will be required to be completed on your own time.
