Foothills School Division seeks a temporary MHCB - Success/Wellness Coach to support continuity of programming for the 2026/27 school year. The role focuses on addiction and mental health promotion for children, youth, and families, delivering universal Tier 1 programming in schools and community settings.

We anticipate full-time hours (35/week) for October, with in-person attendance required at school locations. Evening and weekend work may be needed to meet program objectives.

Qualifications

  • Post-semes ter diploma in social sciences preferred or equivalent courses/experience with 2+ years in addiction and mental health or health/human services.
  • Must have valid practice permit under Health Professions Act.
  • Criminal record/vulnerable sector check required prior to hire.
  • Brain Story certification must be completed within 6 months of hire or prior to start.

Responsibilities

  • Provide addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth, and families through Tier 1 universal programming.
  • Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that aligns with MHCB objectives.
  • Deliver programming in schools and community settings, including large and small group sessions.
  • Foster knowledge, skills, and abilities that enable others to improve their mental health and wellness.
  • On-site attendance is required with potential evening/weekend hours.

Job description

At the Foothills School Division (FSD) we are seeking a temporaryMHCB - Success/Wellness Coachto join our team. Thisschool-facilitation position will support the team by providing relief coverage to ensure the continuity of programming for our schools for the 2026/27 school year.

We anticipate being able to provide full-time hours (35 hours per week) for at least the month of October. This isprimarily an on-site role which will requirein-person attendance at our school locations.Evening and weekend work may be required.

Our Division & Communities

Foothills School Division (FSD) serves the learning needs of approximately 8000 students from preschool to grade 12. We operate 22 public schools, an online digital school, an alternative campus, and three colony schools. These are located in the towns of Okotoks, High River, and Diamond Valley, and the communities of Blackie, Cayley, Heritage Heights, Red Deer Lake, Longview, Millarville and Foothills County.

The Role

The Coach provides addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth, and families through Tier 1 universal programming. Working as part of a team, this position develops and delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that meets the objectives of the MHCB initiative. Delivery of programming involves large and small group work in schools and community settings, and focuses on increasing knowledge, building skills and fostering abilities that enable others to better their own mental health and wellness.

Qualifications & Work Experience

To prepare for this role, a related post‑semester diploma in social sciences is preferred, or relevant courses and experience with a minimum of two years working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student will be considered). You must be in good standing and have a valid practice permit with the Health Professions Act. In addition, a satisfactory criminal record/vulnerablesector check must be provided prior to hire.

A certification in Brain Story will be required either prior to hire or within in the first 6 months of employment; there is no fee however, it will be required to be completed on your own time.
