Job summary

Rising Edge Group is seeking an Electrician Apprentice to install and maintain low and high voltage equipment in a substation, reporting to a Journeyperson Electrician. You will assist with installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of high voltage transformers and related equipment, on a safety‑sensitive site at the DOW Chemical Facility.

Eligibility includes indentured electrical or PSE trade, valid driver’s license, and ability to work at heights.

Qualifications

  • Indentured into Electrical or PSE trade.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Utility Code and OH&S rules relating to Electrician role.
  • Valid Provincial Class 5 driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Office and computer-based test equipment is an asset.
  • Experience operating construction equipment is a strong asset.
  • Must meet pre-access Drug & Alcohol testing requirements.
  • Must be able to work at heights.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in day-to-day activities involved with substation construction.
  • Work with high voltage equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, switches, voltage regulators, capacitor banks, and SCADA systems.
  • Install time‑sensitive network and power cabling, including connection, location and documentation of circuits.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and testing on substation equipment.
  • Develop work scopes and procedures; perform routine repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety practices and standards.
  • Assist Journeyman Electrician with installation and erection of grounding grids and power system equipment.
