Job summary

The University of Alberta in Edmonton seeks a Social Worker to provide holistic, student-centered support across mental health, wellbeing and life skills. The role combines in-person and remote work within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on helping students navigate challenges and sustain daily stability.

Reporting to the Manager of the Social Work Team, you will manage a diverse caseload, adhere to ACSW standards, participate in workshops, and collaborate with campus and community partners

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Social Work Degree is required; lived experience and work experience may be considered.
• Experience in social work, case management, crisis intervention, supportive counselling/advising, and interdisciplinary team navigation.
• ACSW membership in good standing is required.
• 2–5 years of applicable social work experience and/or frontline work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to engage diverse communities.
• Experience providing crisis and short-term counselling support with confidentiality and sensitivity.
• Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team; trauma-informed and culturally responsive.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Caseload & Care Plan Management: Manage a caseload of students with varied needs to support independence and goal achievement.
• Scope of Practice: Deliver services within ACSW standards and triage mental health and wellness requests.
• Interdisciplinary Care + Service Transition: Coordinate care with campus and community partners; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Documentation & Regulatory Compliance: Maintain accurate student records in the EMR; protect privacy and adhere to laws and policies.
• Partnerships & Outreach: Build relationships campus-wide; conduct outreach, workshops and staff/faculty consultations.
