- Working 32.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 6.5 hours per day)
- This position will be required to provide supports across 3 Fort Saskatchewan schools ( Fort Saskatchewan High School, Rudolph Hennig Junior High, and SouthPointe School ) requiring regulartravel between assigned division schools during the workday
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct Student & Family Support: Independently manage a school caseload, building trust with families through targeted interventions, home visits, and crisis support to improve attendance and engagement.
- Assessment & Safety Planning: Conduct psychosocial assessments and risk screenings to create goal-oriented intervention and safety plans while keeping accurate, confidential records that follow ACSW standards.
- School Team Consultation: Partner with principals, teachers, and support staff to offer advice on trauma-informed practices and deliver workshops or small groups for students, parents, and staff.
- Community & Agency Collaboration: Connect families with external mental health, social service, and child intervention agencies, helping them navigate complex support systems to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
- Prefer a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW).
- Minimum required: Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Good standing with the ACSW
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and First Aid / CPR Certifications
EXPERIENCE:
- 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible professional social work experience supporting children, youth, and families with complex needs, including assessment, case management, intervention planning, and interagency coordination.
- Prefer:
- Experience working in an educational environment.
- Experience independently managing complex caseloads and providing professional consultation within multidisciplinary or multi-agency settings.
- Strong understanding of regulation strategies and the impact of chronic stress on the developing brain.
- Ability to apply knowledge of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) to understand their influence on student behaviour, engagement, attendance, and learning within school settings.
- Advanced knowledge of community resources and interagency collaboration.
- Knowledge of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit cultural practices, youth culture, and culturally responsive family support.
- Additional training in risk assessment, family intervention, attendance support, restorative practice, or trauma-informed practice.
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
- Brain Story Certification.
