Job summary

Fidelity Canada in Toronto is seeking a student for the IS Development & Application Support (Workflow Management Systems) role. You will focus on application support activities and developing code for internal applications.

You will engage in ad hoc programming, collaborate with team members on design, coding, testing, debugging, and implement features and APIs while following Fidelity’s standards. The program supports mentoring and professional development, with a flexible hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a university degree in Computer Science or related technical field, ideally in your third or fourth year.
• Strong interest in web development and APIs.
• Solid understanding of Java, .NET, Angular, HTML/HTML5, and CSS libraries.
• Familiarity with Groovy, Perl, Linux/Unix shell, and SQL/Oracle databases is beneficial.
• Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, SharePoint and ServiceNow is a plus.
• Must be in a registered co-op program and available full-time for the term.

How you’ll make an impact:

As a student in the IS Development & Application Support (Workflow Management Systems) role, your primary focus will be application support activities and developing code for our internal applications. You will have the opportunity to:

• Engage in application support and coding activities while gaining insights into Fidelity’s business models and applications.
• Undertake ad hoc programming tasks to support our Development Team.
• Collaborate with team members in the design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of features and functions within our applications and APIs, ensuring adherence to Fidelity’s standards and practices.
• Participate on documentation initiative to create, enhance and organize supported applications documentation. Evaluate and implement best practices that could be advantageous for the team and our organization.

What we’re looking for:

• You are pursuing a university degree in Computer Science, Business with a technical proficiency or a related technical program, ideally in your third or fourth year of study.
• You possess a keen interest and understanding of web development and APIs.
• You have a strong grasp of Internet programming languages, including Java, .Net, Angular, HTML/HTML5 technologies, and CSS libraries.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Groovy, Perl, Linux/Unix shell, and SQL/Oracle databases would be beneficial.
• Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, SharePoint and ServiceNow would be a plus.
• You must be in a registered co-op program to be considered for this role
• You must be available on a full-time basis for the entire duration of the co-op term.

You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement.

Competitive Pay for Specialized Talent

This contract role offers a flexible, hourly compensation model that reflects your expertise and the value you bring. The undergraduate IT hourly rate ranges from $25.00 to $29.00 , based on experience and qualifications.

We offer market-aligned rates that recognize the specialized skills and agility required for this role.
