Job summary

Telecon Inc. is seeking a Structured Cabling Technician to perform structured cabling and related IT infrastructure work across Nova Scotia, with field service and on-site troubleshooting in collaboration with IT teams.

Candidates should have at least 3 years of cabling/installation experience, a valid driver’s license, and be able to obtain Government reliability clearance. Training and safety compliance are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years cabling and/or installation experience.
  • Nova Scotia Cabling Specialist Certification (CCS) is a definite asset.
  • Valid driver’s license with clear driving record.
  • Must have Reliability Status clearance or ability to obtain.
  • Professional, trustworthy, and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Install structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6, fibre) per requirements.
  • Label cables according to standards and perform post-install tests.
  • Maintain customer relations through daily contact.
  • Install new services and outlets in commercial buildings.
  • Assist senior technicians on daily service calls.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company policy.

Job description

The Structured Cabling Technician will be responsible for executing structured cabling projects as well as projects in the security and fibre optic space.

Candidates must be able to provide their own transportation directly to the worksite or be able to get to our office in Dartmouth at which point transportation will be provided for them.

We are currently seeking a Structured Cabling Technician who can perform service work representing 3rd party companies within Nova Scotia, who can do structured cabling services but work with IT equipment and IT Help Desk representatives to troubleshoot or confirm equipment connectivity and operation.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
  • Installation of structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6 and others) and fiber optics according to the requirements
  • Label cables according to defined standards
  • Perform the necessary tests after installation and makes the necessary corrections
  • Maintain strong customer relations through daily contact with customers
  • Install new services, extra outlets and equipment in commercial buildings
  • Assist senior and lead technicians in daily service calls
  • Learn and adhere to all applicable Health & Safety regulations, both legislatively mandated, and as outlined in company policy
  • Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
  • Minimum 3 years cabling and or installation experience
  • Nova Scotia Cabling Specialist Certification (CCS) is a definite asset
  • Valid driver’s license with clear driver’s abstract
  • Must haveGovernment of Canada "Reliability Status" clearance or the ability to apply for and obtain this clearance with the Government of Canada
  • Professional, trustworthy, and reliable with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency
  • Ability to organize work and consistently meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently
  • Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Certification is an asset
