Job summary

Ledcor in Grande Prairie, AB is seeking a Field Services Technician to deliver installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications systems for business clients. You will work on-site to install equipment, cabling, and voice/data networks while following safety and quality standards.

The role requires a valid driver's license, ability to travel between sites, and comfort working outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a telecommunications role or relevant training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license, provide a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements and background check.
  • Some knowledge or familiarity of telecom networks or similar electrical fields.
  • Experience working independently with strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair voice, data, VoIP, security and automation systems and equipment.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and plan deployments.
  • Ensure work orders, FLHAs, and JSRs are completed accurately and submitted timely.
  • Maintain compliance with internal processes and regulatory standards.
  • Provide clear, professional communication to customers about progress and delays.
  • Identify and communicate issues related to scheduling to maintain efficiency and satisfaction.
  • Service work orders and drive to and from customer locations within a defined geographic area.
  • Utilize a laptop and various software applications for job documentation.

You will ensure reliable connectivity by working on-site to install and service equipment and cabling, while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair various voice, data, VoIP, security and Automation communication systems and equipment
  • Conduct thorough site surveys to assess installation requirements and develop effective plans to ensure successful deployment
  • Ensure all work orders and related documentation, Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA), and Job Summary Reports (JSRs), are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner
  • Maintain compliance with internal processes and regulatory standards
  • Provides clear and professional communication to customers regarding job progress, estimated arrival times, and any delays
  • Proactively identify and communicate issues related to overbooking or underutilization to maintain service efficiency and customer satisfaction
  • Building on your customer service skills, you will ensure work orders are completed
  • Drive to and from customer locations in a defined geographic area performing installation and repair of services on behalf of our client
  • Utilize a laptop computer and various software applications
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a telecommunications role, or relevant training and experience working with any telecom network company or provider
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English as required
  • Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license, provide a clean driver’s abstract
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements, criminal background check
  • Some knowledge or familiarity of working with Telecommunication networks or similar electrical fields
  • Experience working independently and a strong technical aptitude
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organizational and prioritization skills
Work Conditions:
  • Company vehicle, cell phone and tools provided
  • Home based dispatching
  • Travel to various sites is required
  • This role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting (up to 50 pounds), working at heights, and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
