Job summary

Telecon is seeking a Structured Cabling Technician to execute cabling projects and related security and fibre optic work. You may travel to the worksite or to the Dartmouth office where transportation is provided.

Government reliability clearance or eligibility is preferred. Responsibilities include installing CAT5E/CAT6 cabling, labeling according to standards, testing installations, and maintaining customer relations while supporting senior technicians.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year cabling/installation experience.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Must have Reliability Status or be eligible to obtain it.
• Professional, trustworthy and detail-oriented with good communication.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Install structured cabling (CAT5E, CAT6) and fiber optics per specs.
• Label cables according to defined standards.
• Perform tests after installation and fix issues as needed.
• Maintain strong customer relations through regular contact.
• Support senior technicians on daily service calls.
• Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company policy.

Job description

The Structured Cabling Technician will be responsible for executing structured cabling projects as well as projects in the security and fibre optic space.

Candidates must be able to provide their own transportation directly to the worksite or be able to get to our office in Dartmouth at which point transportation will be provided for them.

Candidates will ideally hold Government of Canada “Reliability Status” clearance or be eligible for and able to successfully obtain this clearance.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

• Installation of structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6 and others) and fiber optics according to the requirements.
• Label cables according to defined standards.
• Perform the necessary tests after installation and makes the necessary corrections.
• Maintain strong customer relations through daily contact with customers.
• Install new services, extra outlets and equipment in commercial buildings.
• Assist senior and lead technicians in daily service calls.
• Learn and adhere to all applicable Health & Safety regulations, both legislatively mandated, and as outlined in company policy.
• Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

• Minimum 1 year cabling and or installation experience
• Valid driver’s license with clear driver’s abstract.
• Must have Government of Canada “Reliability Status” clearance or the ability to apply for and obtain this clearance with the Government of Canada
• Professional, trustworthy, and reliable with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency.
• Ability to organize work and consistently meet deadlines.
• Ability to work both independently.
• Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Certification is an asset.
