Job summary

Telecon in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is seeking a Structured Cabling Technician to execute structured cabling projects and security/fibre optic work on site.

You will install CAT5E/6, label cables, test installations, support senior technicians, and maintain strong customer relations while complying with Health & Safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year cabling or installation experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with clear abstract.
  • Must have Reliability Status clearance or the ability to obtain it.
  • Professional, trustworthy, and detail-oriented.
  • Effective communication with diverse individuals and calm handling of routine to emergency situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Fall Arrest Certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Install structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6 and fiber) per requirements.
  • Label cables according to defined standards.
  • Perform tests after installation and make corrections as needed.
  • Maintain strong customer relations through daily contact.
  • Install new services, outlets and equipment in commercial buildings.
  • Assist senior and lead technicians in daily service calls.
  • Learn and adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company policy.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet company objectives.

The Structured Cabling Technician will be responsible for executing structured cabling projects as well as projects in the security and fibre optic space.

Candidates must be able to provide their own transportation directly to the worksite or be able to get to our office in Dartmouth at which point transportation will be provided for them.

Candidates will ideally hold Government of Canada “Reliability Status” clearance or be eligible for and able to successfully obtain this clearance.

You Will Have The Opportunity To
  • Installation of structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6 and others) and fiber optics according to the requirements.
  • Label cables according to defined standards.
  • Perform the necessary tests after installation and makes the necessary corrections.
  • Maintain strong customer relations through daily contact with customers.
  • Install new services, extra outlets and equipment in commercial buildings.
  • Assist senior and lead technicians in daily service calls.
  • Learn and adhere to all applicable Health & Safety regulations, both legislatively mandated, and as outlined in company policy.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
  • Minimum 1 year cabling and or installation experience
  • Valid driver’s license with clear driver’s abstract.
  • Must have Government of Canada "Reliability Status" clearance or the ability to apply for and obtain this clearance with the Government of Canada
  • Professional, trustworthy, and reliable with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency.
  • Ability to organize work and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently.
  • Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Certification is an asset.
