Job summary

EnerCorp Engineered Solutions in Canada (Alberta) seeks a structural welder to fabricate and repair metal structures per blueprints and specifications. The role requires welding with Stick, TIG or MIG processes, and working at heights, outdoors, and in variable conditions.

The successful candidate will read plans, ensure weld quality, and operate overhead crane, bandsaw, and oxy-acetylene torch while maintaining safety and efficiency on site.

Qualifications

• 3rd year apprentice or Journeyman certificate required.
• Experience fabricating skids, handrails, stairs, platforms preferred.
• Able to operate overhead crane, bandsaw, and oxy-acetylene torch.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret welding blueprints, designs, and process specifications.
• Examine welds to ensure they meet industry standards and specifications.
• Weld with Stick, TIG or MIG processes.
• Secure components using clamps and supports; fabricate structural welds.
• Work outdoors in all conditions, in heights and confined spaces as needed.

This individual must be able to work independently as well as a team to meet deadlines and to process current and future orders in a timely manner befitting the customer and the company.Specific responsibilitiesAbility to read and interpret welding blueprints, designs, and welding process specifications.Examine welds to ensure they meet industry standards.Possess and execute welds to a high degree of accuracy.Secure and fasten components using clamps, braces, jacks and bolt straps.Inspect and evaluate welds to ensure they are free of defect and conform to set specifications.Employ appropriate welding methods in completing structural fabrications.Utilize manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positions.Apply Stick, TIG or MIG welding.Carry out welding operations under intense conditions such as extreme heights, confined spaces and inclement weather.COMPETENCIESEducation, Training and Experience3rd year apprentice or have Journeyman/Woman certificate.CWB an asset, but not required.Minimum 2 years work experience fabricating skids, handrails, stairs, and platforms.Able to operate an overhead crane, bandsaw, and oxy-acetylene torch.Prior experience with welding is requiredAbility to follow written and verbal directions.Ability to design and fabricate structural welds.Capable of working at heights.Keep work area clean and organized.Must be able to work singularly as well as in a team environment and have good communication skills.Must be mechanically inclined.Physical and Safety RequirementsAbility to lift 50lbs.Ability to stand for entirety of shift.Repetitive bending, reaching, pulling, and lifting.Pushing and pulling wheeled carts weighing up to 1000lbs.Able to work occasional overtime or weekends.Must be able to see, hear and have full use of both hands and fingers.Work outdoors in all conditions.Must be Safety conscious.Able to follow proper protocol for incident reporting and emergency situations.Behavioral CompetenciesMust have attention to detail.Possess good communication skills.Able to follow proper protocol for incident reporting and emergency situations.Good morale character and team player attitude.Must be safety conscious.Dedication & commitment to team focus common goals.Able to be flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing needs of clients and industry.Able to withstand the mental and physical stress brought in by the element of an outdoor work environment.Fosters a positive working relationship with co-workers, customers, clients and management.Must have transportation to and from work
