Job summary

Imperial Metal is seeking a Structural Steel - Welder/Fitter for an evening shift. Four 10-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday, 3:30pm–2:00am, with competitive pay and growth opportunities in Blumenort, Canada.

You will read and interpret design drawings, weld and fit steel per specifications, and maintain quality and safety. Benefits include group benefits and RRSP/TFSA matching, plus annual salary reviews.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings.
  • Experience welding and fitting steel with current certification tickets.
  • Able to work with staff, be likeable and humble.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret design drawings.
  • Collaborate with workshop foreman to provide solutions for design or material issues.
  • Plan work sequence and cut material to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Produce assemblies with accuracy as per drawing specifications.
  • Organize and label parts clearly and accurately.
  • Set up and operate equipment such as torches, drills, various clamping tools, squares, disc grinders and other handheld tools.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and keep workstation clean and organized.
  • Provide data for daily production report.
  • Keep workarea clean.
  • Liaise with shop foreman pertaining to tool and equipment maintenance and performance.

STRUCTURAL STEEL - WELDER / FITTER (EVENING SHIFT)

Your schedule would be four 10-hour shifts, Monday to Thursday (3:30pm – 2:00am).

Job Overview:

A Fitter's role is to fabricate, assemble and fit structural and miscellaneous steel while maintaining quality and accuracy as outlined by the project specification and to ensure delivery targets are met as per schedule.

To qualify for this position:
  • Ability to read and interpret design drawings.
  • Has experience with welding and fitting steel, with current certification tickets.
