Job summary

WSP Canada in Alberta is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training to contribute to the design and delivery of building projects across commercial, institutional and public sectors. You will work with experienced engineers to develop technical expertise and build resilient communities.

You will prepare calculations, collaborate across disciplines, and participate in site visits while progressing toward P.Eng. designation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
• EIT registration or eligibility with APEGA.
• Experience with structural design software and engineering analysis tools.
• Knowledge of Alberta Building Code and Canadian design standards.
• Strong technical writing, communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to attend project sites.

Responsibilities

• Support the structural design and analysis of buildings from concept through construction.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, reports and construction documents.
• Collaborate with architects and MEP disciplines for integrated solutions.
• Assist with structural assessments, investigations and rehabilitation projects.
• Participate in site visits, inspections and construction reviews to verify design intent.
• Apply innovative and sustainable practices to enhance building performance.
• Contribute to project coordination, scheduling and technical deliverables.
• Learn from senior engineers and pursue progression toward Professional Engineer designation.

As a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT), you'll contribute to the design and delivery of impactful buildings projects across commercial, institutional, healthcare, industrial, and public sector environments. Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you'll develop your technical expertise while helping shape resilient, sustainable communities.

Your Impact

• Contribute to project coordination, scheduling, and technical deliverables while developing project management skills.
• Learn from senior engineers and pursue progressive growth toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
• Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration with APEGA.
• Experience with structural design software and engineering analysis tools.
• Familiarity with steel, concrete, wood, and masonry building design principles.
• Working knowledge of the Alberta Building Code and Canadian design standards.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $73,400 - $97,200

MB & ON: $67,000 - $92,200

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $66,300 - $88,000
