Responsibilities

1. Perform calculations and prepare specifications and detailed designs for structures following applicable codes and industry standards.
2. Supervise the production of design drawings.
3. Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients or their representatives.
4. Lead and manage multi-disciplinary projects for private and public clients.
5. Oversee or participate in on-site inspections and condition investigations of structures.
6. Evaluate structures based on their existing condition.
7. Prepare technical reports and participate in presentations as needed.
8. Conduct site inspections and perform contract administration during construction.
9. Review contractor shop drawings.
10. Prepare budgets and proposals for new work.
11. Manage project budgets and schedules.
12. Perform quality control reviews of structural services.
13. Manage junior engineers, technicians, and clerical staff.
14. Report to senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering; Master's preferred.
• Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License.
• Professional Engineer licensed in Ontario.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in structural engineering.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Proficiency with Ontario Building Code and Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, and standards for concrete, steel, and wood structures.
• Advanced knowledge of structural analysis software.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; Microstation is an asset.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Experience in designing concrete, steel, and wood structures.
