Job summary

MTE Consultants is seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Building Structures Division in Stratford. You will develop detailed structural designs for institutional, commercial and industrial buildings and perform calculations to move projects from concept to construction.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering degree and 0–3 years of experience, with knowledge of Ontario Building Code and AutoCAD/Revit.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of building structural design and Ontario Building Code.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed structural designs for institutional, commercial and industrial building structures.

• Coordinate with Project Manager, clients and consultants to ensure design fits project scope.
• Complete field reviews during construction and participate in design meetings.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed structural designs for a variety of structural engineering projects including institutional, commercial and industrial building structures
• Perform engineering calculations and designs based on engineering principles and technical skill, experience, innovation, and engineering judgment, to transform project scope from concept design to construction, meeting applicable regulatory codes and standards
• Evaluate project information to identify possible design solutions, coordinate and communicate with the Project Manager, clients and consultants to ensure design will work within the overall scope of the project
• Complete field review of projects at the construction stage
• Attend and participate in design and project meetings
• Other related duties, as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 0-3 years of relevant experience
• Solid understanding of building structural design, the Ontario Building Code, the building permit processes, and applicable regulations, standards and legislation related to structural engineering projects
• Strong understanding of structural analysis and design software, Auto CAD and Revit software
• Working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Experience with technical report writing
• Valid Drivers License with access to a vehicle

Salary Range

$68,000 – $70,000 per year base salary, plus benefits

Annual Salary will be based on individual education, qualifications, and relevant work experience.
