Job summary

MTE Consultants is seeking a Project Principal to join our Building Restoration Division and work out of our Burlington, ON office. You will lead technical reviews, manage proposals, and drive client relations across southwestern Ontario and the GTA.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in building science consulting, strong writing and communication skills, and a strong ability to mentor junior staff. A P.Eng designation is preferred but other professional designations will be considered; travel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering.
  • Minimum of +15 years of related experience in building science within the consulting industry.
  • P.Eng. designation is preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered.
  • Well-rounded in building science and structural restoration including knowledge in roofing, waterproofing, structural rehabilitation, masonry, windows, curtain walls, sealants, EIFS, site paving and other cladding systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead and senior peer reviewer on projects; be responsible for technical review of documents produced by other project managers and junior staff.
  • Undertake investigations and prepare technical reports for parking garages, roofing, building envelope, leakage assessments.
  • Prepare specifications and manage tendering process.
  • Procure new projects and clients through identifying business development opportunities and leading proposal efforts.
  • Attend industry events and help increase MTE’s technical profile in the industry.
  • Comply with corporate standards; contribute to development of building restoration technical practice systems and training of junior staff.
  • Expedite projects from inception through the investigation, specification and construction stage.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitor receivables and be responsible for the financial health of the project.
  • Through project management you continually seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and to develop lasting client relationships.
  • Travel to project sites across southwestern Ontario and in the GTA is required. Mileage will be reimbursed for work related travel.

Requirements

  • Well-rounded in building science and structural restoration including knowledge in roofing, waterproofing, structural rehabilitation, masonry, windows, curtain walls, sealants, EIFS, site paving and other cladding systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities
  • Strong organizational skills

  • The successful candidate mustpossessa valid class G driver’s license

Salary Range

$112,000–$144,000per year base salary, plus benefits

Annual Salary will be based on individual education, qualifications, and relevant work experience.
