Job summary

Aker Solutions in St. John’s, NL is seeking a Structural Designer to join our engineering team.

You will perform conceptual and detailed structural design and analysis to support installation of new equipment, lifting devices, and modifications in accordance with CSA, ASME, API and DNV standards. You will model in PDMS, AutoCAD and Navisworks, prepare documentation and drawings, perform weight/COG calculations, and coordinate with other disciplines.

Qualifications

Five years of experience in a similar structural design role.
Technical college diploma or equivalent.
Solid understanding of standard structural design codes and practices (CSA, ASME, API, DNV).
Experience with PDMS, AutoCAD and Navisworks.
Experience with weight and center of gravity calculations for modifications.
Offshore travel availability is an asset.

Responsibilities

Perform conceptual and detailed structural design and analysis for equipment installations, lifting devices and modifications.
Utilize 3D modelling software to support all design stages from concept to detail.
Prepare documentation packages and construction drawing sets.
Calculate weights/COG and assess interference for proposed changes.
Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve issues and support design delivery.
Provide guidance to other designers and ensure quality checks on drawings.
