Job summary

Adaptive Marine Solutions, Inc. (AMS) is recruiting an Intermediate Piping Designer in Ottawa, ON and/or St. John’s, NL. Responsibilities include developing 3D piping models for ship construction and refit projects, interpreting drawings, and producing technical drawings and specifications.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of marine piping experience, knowledge of AutoCAD and Ship Constructor, and proficiency with Aveva E3D or PDMs. Eligible for Controlled Goods and security status is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or associate degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience with 3–7 years related experience.
• Modelling and drafting experience in the marine environment producing piping models and drawings.
• Production drawings including piping isometrics, spools and pipe support design.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D product models for ship piping and ancillary systems for new ship construction and refit projects.
• Interpret technical, detail design and construction drawings related to systems design.
• Develop specifications, sketches, requirements, and technical drawings.
• Develop 3D model in Ship Constructor, Aveva or other software as required.
• Review production outputs to ensure 3D model and deliverables meet specifications and standards.
• Support technical discussions for project reviews.
• Assist in developing less experienced team members.

Job Description

We are recruiting foran Intermediate Piping Designer in Ottawa, ON and/or St. John’s, NL.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop 3D product models for ship piping and ancillary systems for new ship construction and refit projects
• Interpret technical, detail design and construction drawings related to systems design
• Develop specifications, sketches, requirements, and technical drawings
• Develop 3D model in Ship Constructor, Aveva or other software as required
• Review of production outputs, ex: spool packages to ensure correctness of the 3D model and associated deliverables are compliant with specifications and standards;
• Support technical discussions for project reviews
• Support and assist in the development of less experienced team members; and
• Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on qualifications and years of experience of applicant.

Qualifications:

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or associate degree; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and 3 – 7 years related experience
• Modelling and drafting experience in the marine environment producing functional and detail piping models and drawings
• Production Drawings including piping isometrics, spools and pipe support design, modelling and detailing
• Pipe routing using Industry and Project standards
• Engineering and Design drawings including 2D layouts, Spec Review and Requirements definitions
• AutoCad, Ship Constructor
• Experience with Aveva E3D and/or PDMs would be an asset
• Experience working within a shipyard would be an asset
• Experience and understanding of Cats and Specs would be and asset

• Must be able to work within a team environment to support project completion
