Job summary

Adaptive Marine Solutions, Inc. (AMS) is seeking a Senior Piping Designer for Ottawa, ON and/or St. John’s, NL. You will develop 3D piping models for ship construction and refit projects, and interpret complex drawings to ensure accurate systems design.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s or associate degree with 8 years of related experience, strong modelling and drafting in marine environments, and proficiency with AutoCad, ShipConstructor, Aveva E3D, and PDMs. Shipyard experience is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree or equivalent with at least 8 years related experience.
  • Modelling and drafting experience in the marine environment producing piping models and drawings.
  • Production drawings including piping isometrics, spools and pipe support design, modelling and detailing.
  • Pipe routing using industry and project standards.
  • Engineering drawings including 2D layouts, spec review and requirements definitions.
  • Experience with AutoCad, ShipConstructor.
  • Experience with Aveva E3D and/or PDMs would be an asset.
  • Experience working within a shipyard would be an asset.
  • Experience and understanding of Cats and Specs would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Additional duties may be assigned based on qualifications and experience of applicant.

Job Description

We are recruiting for Senior Piping Designer in Ottawa, ON and/or St. John’s, NL.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop 3D product models for ship piping and ancillary systems for new ship construction and refit projects
  • Interpret technical, detail design and construction drawings related to systems design

  • Review of production outputs, ex: spool packages to ensure correctness of the 3D model and associated deliverables are compliant with specifications and standards;
  • Support technical discussions for project reviews
  • Support and assist in the development of less experienced team members; and
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on qualifications and years of experience of applicant.

Qualifications:

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or associate degree; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience and at least 8 years related experience
  • Modelling and drafting experience in the marine environment producing functional and detail piping models and drawings
  • Production Drawings including piping isometrics, spools and pipe support design, modelling and detailing
  • Pipe routing using Industry and Project standards
  • Engineering and Design drawings including 2D layouts, Spec Review and Requirements definitions
  • AutoCad, ShipConstructor
  • Experience with Aveva E3D and/or PDMs would be an asset
  • Experience working within a shipyard would be an asset
  • Experience and understanding of Cats and Specs would be and asset

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines; flexible, resourceful and efficient
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work within a team environment to support project completion
  • Thorough understanding of quality and continuous improvement
  • Decision making skills and problem solving considered an asset
  • Eligibility for enrollment into Controlled Goods Program
  • Eligible Canadian Security Status (Secret or above)
