Job summary

Harbinger Network Inc. in Hamilton, Ontario, seeks a Project Accountant to manage the financial performance of multiple construction projects.

You will partner with Project Managers to ensure accurate reporting, cost control, and timely billing throughout each project lifecycle. The role requires 5–7 years of construction accounting, strong knowledge of WIP and percentage-of-completion, expertise in contract billing, advanced Excel and ERP experience, and the ability to analyze, communicate

Qualifications

• 5–7 years accounting experience in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of project accounting concepts including WIP & percent completion.
• Experience with contract billing, progress draws and change orders.
• Advanced Excel and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities with good communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Post-secondary education in accounting/finance (or in progress).

Responsibilities

• Partner with PMs/PCs to develop, maintain, and update project budgets in the financial system.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts, billings, margins, and cash flow.
• Review and validate project costs for accuracy and contract compliance.
• Manage day-to-day project accounting for multiple projects and prepare financial reports.
• Participate in monthly project reviews and provide financial insights.
• Prepare variance analyses and support WIP/percentage-of-completion reporting.
• Forecast financial performance and review project reconciliations and revenue recognition.
• Prepare and review client billings, subcontractor invoices, and reconcile payments.
• Maintain audit-ready project documentation and manage change orders.
