Job summary

Elby Professional Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Project Accountant for our client in Mississauga, ON. The role bridges accounting and construction teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and executive reporting.

You will oversee construction financials, produce quarterly cost packages, and collaborate with budgeting, development, and accounts payable teams to resolve discrepancies. On-site position with a stable, long-tenured culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project-based accounting experience for large projects, ideally from a GC or REIT environment.
• A relevant designation (CPA, PMP) would be an asset.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Procore and/or Yardi software is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively between the accounting and construction teams.
• Ensure construction costs are complete, accurate, and properly allocated to the correct categories and general ledger codes.
• Provide stewardship and governance over construction financials.
• Generate quarterly job cost reporting packages for the executive team, including detailed variance analysis (actuals vs. budget).
• Collaborate with budgeting, development, property management, and accounts payable teams.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve cost discrepancies, ensuring projects remain on track.
• Assist in posting entries for job costs, accurately allocating costs.
