Job summary

AVL Manufacturing, based in Hamilton, Ontario, seeks a Logistics Coordinator to manage movement of materials and goods, support production schedules, and ensure compliance with regulations. You will coordinate shipments, negotiate with carriers, monitor deliveries, and maintain inventory accuracy using ERP systems.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration across purchasing, warehouse, and service teams, plus preparing shipping documents and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in logistics, warehousing and manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and shipping platforms.
• Strong ERP/WMS knowledge.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Experience planning with carriers and customs brokers.
• Experience handling customs documents and border services.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods, and the safe loading/unloading of trucks.
• Negotiate with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics service providers for cost-effective transport and border services.
• Monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve transportation or border issues.
• Collaborate with warehouse and production to maintain inventory and stock replenishment using the ERP system.
• Ensure all inventory is received, labelled, and movements recorded in the system.
• Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
• Work with purchasing, receiving, production, warehouse, and service teams to ensure on-time material availability.
• Coordinate with suppliers to manage lead times and delivery schedules.
• Support production planning with material availability and delivery status.
• Prepare shipping docs: bills of lading, packing lists, customs docs.
• Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and safety standards.
• Maintain records of logistics activities: shipments, deliveries, inventory movements.
• Identify opportunities to improve logistics processes and reduce costs.
• Develop SOPs and apply best practices in logistics management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive lean initiatives.
• Serve as contact for customers and suppliers on logistics inquiries and order status.
• Resolve delays and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Build and maintain relationships with providers and customers.
• Evaluate logistics vendors and negotiate contracts for cost savings and service quality.
